True love might only be a kiss away for 10 girls this summer as I Kissed a Girl announces its first set of women looking for love on BBC Three's dating show.

After last year's I Kissed a Boy, it's now the girls' turn to head into the Italian countryside for some kisses and queer joy.

In the show's first episode, airing on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from Sunday 5 May, our 10 girls have been matched up and will be meeting each other for the first time by sharing a kiss.

Over a series of "kiss-offs", the girls get to decide whether to stay with their current partner or save a kiss for someone else – including new girls who will join throughout the process.

Playing Cupid will be Dannii Minogue, the pop icon known for hits like Love and Kisses (which we'll be getting plenty of on I Kissed a Girl), Who Do You Love Now? (a big question for the cast as new girls get introduced each week) and I Begin to Wonder.

And you might begin to wonder who these 10 girls are. So let's meet the first queer, bisexual and lesbian women about to enter the show.

Watch the video below to see them describe their perfect kiss, and read on to learn a little more about them.

The I Kissed a Girl cast describes their perfect kiss

Abbie, 24, from Brighton

Abbie has seen her fair share of blow-outs, both in the salon she owns and in her dating history, which she describes as "disastrous".

She came out to her family when she was 12 (she says her grandad was her biggest ally) - and she is excited to be part of this all-female space after growing tired of men coming on to her thinking she's straight.

Abbie has her eye on the ball when it comes to the type of woman she wants. She loves sporty, masculine girls, and jokes she'd love to become a WAG. Her dating red flag (or should that be red card) is when someone moves too quickly – even if she admits she catches feelings quickly herself.

Amy, 24, from Surrey

Social media manager Amy describes herself as a "gay man trapped in a lesbian's body". She may have been lacrosse captain at her private school, but she found passing as straight difficult, leading to her embracing London lesbian life as soon as she could.

On the London dating scene, she is "femme for femme" – a feminine girl looking for the same. She says this can make finding women to date difficult because people don't assume she is into girls.

On I Kissed a Girl, this flamboyant 90s fashion lover and published poet wants to find a princess worthy of a sonnet.

Cara, 25, from Ballycastle, Northern Ireland

Support worker Cara, who identifies as bisexual, comes from a place where she says there's "zero gay scene, but the people are lovely". Now, she's going to go from zero to 100 as she enters the gayest summer imaginable.

Growing up on a council estate without many LGBTQ+ friends, Cara admits she sometimes puts emotional walls up, so is looking for a pretty and athletic woman who can climb over those walls and steal her heart.

Cara is seen by her friends to be the life of the party, and is looking for someone who can handle the craic.

Demi, 23, from Hemel Hempstead

Publishing executive Demi considers herself a "baby gay", having only been out for two years. She's never been in a relationship with a girl and is definitely hoping to change that with I Kissed a Girl.

Coming from a Nigerian family, she is very close with her mum, but says her father found her coming out difficult.

Demi is still trying to work out where she fits in the scene, but knows what she wants in a woman – someone who is confident in their own skin.

Fiorenza, 22, from Glasgow

Busy Fiorenza doesn't have much time to find love, working as a chef during the day and drumming for the band Uninvited (who won a BBC Radio 1 competition to perform in the Live Lounge back in 2022).

As the only single member of her band, she is dedicating her summer to cooking up some romance with the potential woman of her dreams.

With a strong rock chick look, Fiorenza says people expect her to be intimidating, but she's a true softie at heart looking for a feminine girl with an edgy fashion sense.

Georgia, 28, from Hunmanby, Yorkshire

As a professional footballer, Georgia thrives in a group of women – perfect practice for the I Kissed a Girl experience.

Despite her athletic success, however, she says she is not interested in playing the field. In fact, before the show she had not been on a date for over a year.

The amount of time her job demands has made it difficult to find time for dating, so she is hoping her time on I Kissed a Girl will help her find the funny and feminine woman of her dreams.

Lisha, 22, from Caernarfon, North Wales

Being from a small town, Lisha jokes that she feels like she's dated every woman in her area.

A tomboy growing up, she came out at 13. Nearly a decade into her out life, she knows exactly the kind of woman she wants.

The psychology student says it's "blonde and girly" women who really occupy her thoughts, but she also really wants someone who allows her to express both her masculine and feminine sides.

Meg, 24, from Goole, Yorkshire

Dancer Meg works as a professional fire breather and is hoping to spark some flames of passion this summer.

Bisexual with a preference for women, Meg wants a confident woman who can match her energy.

Though her work often requires her to dress sexily, Meg also has a homebody side that she wants to share with the right person.

Naee, 26, from London

Engineer Naee maintains rides at London attractions for a living – and is very used to the rollercoaster of lesbian love.

Coming from an accepting Jamaican family, Naee wants success in life so she can care for her mother, who has osteoporosis and fibromyalgia. Now, she's looking for the perfect woman to take home and meet her family.

According to Naee, that perfect woman will be feminine, and will let Naee take the lead in the relationship and treat her like a princess.

Priya, 23, from Newport

Proud self-described "Sikh Punjabi queer woman", Priya works in hotel customer service, and is looking for someone who she can give the keys to her heart.

Priya has found it hard to find girls she likes in her local gay scene, and has also struggled with the dating apps.

Within her family, she is known as "Priyoncé" for her diva-ish ways – and hopes to find a masculine single lady who can put a ring on it after I Kissed a Girl.

And meet the first new girl of the series, Eva

The 22-year-old fashion graduate from Belfast will join the massaria in episode two. She describes herself as a "natural flirt" who likes to mix the masculine and the feminine in her style.

Eva has recently found herself a firm group of friends through playing football, but when it comes to love she hasn't quite scored that goal yet.

Who is doing the voiceover for I Kissed A Girl?

That would be TikTok star Charley Marlowe, offering her hilarious takes on all the drama.

“This has been a dream job for me”, she told the BBC. “Not only getting to voiceover a show which is something I’ve NEVER done before, but the show being the queerest thing I’ve ever seen… double whammy.”

I Kissed a Girl airs Sundays and Mondays on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer from Sunday 5 May.
